And the answers are...

No visit to Memphis would be complete without some mention of the "King" of Rock and Roll (thoughI don't necessarily subscribe to that opinion, but that isn't relevant here). His most famous Christmas song? "Blue Christmas." His home?

Yep, Elvis lives on in the hearts of millions. I think I saw his ghost... wait, nevermind. While in Memphis, we visited Beale Street. And across the street from the Orpheum...
...is the home of...
We also stopped by the Lorraine Motel - the sight of the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. It was neat to be able to talk with Madelin and Halle about both the importance of that event as it relates to US history as well as the relationship it had on current cultural and racial issues.
There was a stop at the Memphis Zoo to see the panda bears and other critters that were out for the winter. Heather got two of them to pose with her:My one regret is that I wish we would've had time to grab some barbeque! And because we had a lot of driving to do in a short time (about 1400 miles over the weekend) and a compacted schedule, we weren't able to plan stops in Nashville, Atlanta or Greenville to say hello (although we thought about dropping by unannounced). So sorry y'all, we'll plan better in the future! At least we were able to come up with 5 minutes and 5 miles to dip across the Mississippi River into:

Although you spoke highly about growing up there, Eric, I don't think the couple miles we saw were the most scenic I've ever seen. :)

If I knew yall were driving through Memphis I would've told you to go eat at the "arcade" downtown! It's the oldest restaurant in Memphis and my great Uncle opened in 1919 I think. It's still in my family. Its really good and full of history!
Hope yall had a great time though!
