Soccer or ballet?

A few Saturday's back we had the chance to go to a Carolina Railhawks soccer game. They are a USL1 (comparable to triple-A baseball) team that plays in Cary, NC. We had great seats close to the field and Madelin and Halle took advantage of the front row view. :) The one drawback to the evening: the scheduled 7pm kick-off was delayed until almost 8:40pm due to lightening and storms. So even though we left at half time it was well after 10pm before the girls got to sleep - and we sure felt it the next morning at church (all of you with kids are probably cringing reading this because you can soooo relate). But at least while we were there everyone had a good time...although Meagan could've had just as much fun at home with the umbrella!
Madelin and Halle also had a ballet recital recently. It couldn't have gotten any better for them...after all, Madelin danced to a song from Cinderella and Halle danced to a song from Lion King. Somehow Disney has a way of getting itself into everything and suddenly all is right in the world.
Of course the girls were thrilled with the prospect of getting their hair done up, their nails painted, and wearing make-up. The lastof which incidentally I routinely try to ingrain in them is just that - something girls wear to make-up for what they lack in looks. Heck, that's whyit's called make-up, right? So I know that's a bit simplistic (but only a bit); however, I cross my fingers that by the time they're actually old enough to wear the crud a little voice pops into their head saying "you know, make-up is only worn by those who need it because they aren't..." You get my drift. I guess I should just be grateful that Heather doesn't really have to wear any of the stuff and leave it at that.
Here's a nice pic of Madelin and her friend Vivi before the recital. Very cute gals.
Oh, side bar. So today Madelin almost started crying as she bemoaned to Heather that it was Vivi's last day in school before she moves back to Costa Rica and it's so terrible because she (Vivi) was her (Madelin's) "best friend". Though they've carpooled and been in class together all year, it was a surprising statement to Heather because last week Madelin's "best friend" Penelope moved back to Puerto Rico for the summer. And I'm sure next week her "best friend" will move out again. Always drama. Constantly. Never ends.
