A busy February
Although February is the shortest month of the year, it tries each year to make itself the biggest or longest or largest month... like the biggest win of the year so far for the Heels (scored 100+ AT Cameron in beating the Dookies); and the girls' first official "dance" (more later); and the largest spending month of the year on food even though it has the least meals; and the latest night out ever for Madelin. Plus, it always throws in a few other twists for fun...
Like Grandma coming to visit for a few days. A close look in this picture will show you that while our girls are used to getting up at 6:30am EST, grandma is not!
Fortunately, though, we were all up for a trip to the museum. When we asked the girls if they'd like to spend a few days in the belly of the whale seen behind them like Jonah did, they said no. So the look on their faces was classic when we related Jonah disobeying the Lord to what they might look forward to if they disobey their parents. :)
Now here's a random photo I like... no real reason.
I mentioned the dance. Technically it was a daddy-daughter Valentine's dance the ward activities committee put on...and hands down one of the best activities the girls had ever been to as far as they were concerned. I mean, think about it: getting dressed up (lipstick and all), loads of sweets (to spite the dental students in the ward), fun music to dance around to (including dancing lessons), and an evening away from Mom who knows the rules with - as Steve Martin said in Cheaper by the Dozen said - "poor, helpless Dad." Yeah, that's a recipe for a party!
Since Madelin hadn't been to an ACC Carolina basketball game before, I took her to watch the Heels beat State. The 8:10pm tipoff was close to an hour after her normal bed time, but she made it the whole game and finally got to bed sometime after 10:30pm. But hey, UNC won and she got a photo with Ramsees...all that was needed for a good night. Best interchange of the night: "Dad, do you think Hayden and Cletus are watching State get beat by the Heels?" "No Madelin, they're probably in bed since they're used to it by now."
